Seminar

Longhouse co-present seminars with partners across the region. Through collaboration, Longhouse is able to support others who hold a shared interest in the role of artists working in the public realm and equally gain insights and make connections with broader contexts of work. In its 2007/08 programme Longhouse supported the artist collaborative CoLab with their legacy to the Weedpatch project that took place in California in 2006. CoLab received funds from the National Artists Network and Arts Council England to incubate their creative practice with each other and another place internationally. The three artists returned from America with various points for consideration around public realm working. It became evident during their time spent in Kern County that there were different interpretations about the use of public spaces which would be important to share with British counterparts in an exchange about practice and processes.
CoLab have designed an extensive programme to incorporate a seminar, exchange and presentation of their final work entitled ‘Translating Weedpatch’. This took place on Saturday 7th July 2007 in Rowley Regis, West Midlands.
