Open West Midlands 2008

Wolverhampton Art Gallery hosts the very first Open West Midlands this summer to showcase some of the best artists based within the region. Artists that have taken part on Longhouse’s artist development programmes are some of the featured artists on this year’s Open West Midlands exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. Shaun Morris (image Howdy shown) took part on the 2006/2007 Action Research programme, Dr Sally Payen took part in the 2006/2007 PAD programme and 2007/2008 Action Research programme, Saranjit Birdi was commissioned on the PAD 2007/2008 programme and Alicja Rogalska has recently been commissioned for the Artist Action Research Bursary for 2008/2009.

The artists selected by the independent panel, Richard Billingham, Dr Rachel Garfield and Alistair Robinson have now been revealed. Prizes will be awarded to the best overall work, and the best painting, 3-dimensional work, work on paper, photograph, and time-based (eg. video) work on Saturday 5 July. This biennial exhibition is organised by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
